A four years old girl, Halimatu Sanusi, who has been kidnapped for weeks, has finally been rescued.

The child was rescued by  policemen from Katsina State Police Command. The girl, who was abducted on January 19, was rescued on January 31 at 1:00p.m.

The state’s image maker, Gambo Isah, said that Mr. Sanusi Abubakar, the girl’s father,  reported to the police that since on  January 19, his daughter, Halimatu had been missing and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive.

“The father further stated that he later received a phone call that his daughter has been kidnapped, and asked to pay the sum of N70,000 or risked losing her.  Subsequently, Police Anti-Kidnapping unit, swung into action and carryout a diligent and meticulous investigation which led to the arrest of the mastermind,  Abubakar Abdulbasir, 18.  In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence and stated that he took the little girl and kept her in an uncompleted building at the outskirt of Marabar-Kankara village.  He later called the father and demanded for the payment of ransom.  The victim was later rescued alive and has already reunited with her family. The suspect will be charge to court as soon as investigation is completed,” said Isah.
