Journalists are strategic partners in crime-fighting, says CP
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, on Friday, stressed the importance of journalists, especially crime reports as strategic partners in crime-fighting and law enforcement in the state.
The number one policeman made this disclosure while interacting with the newly elected officers and members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) at Mike Okiro Press Centre, Ikeja Lagos.
While congratulating the new Executive Committee headed by Mr. Lekan Onabulo, the Commissioner noted that experience had shown that enforcement of the law by the police and dissemination of relevant crime-related information could not be possible without journalists. He emphasised that any society that undermines the strategic position of journalists in information dissemination would be doing so at its own risk.
Re-stating his earlier pledge about five months ago when he assumed office as Lagos Police Commissioner, Alabi assured Crime Reporters that his administration would always carry them along as strategic partners in law enforcement and crime-fighting.
Speaking on the recent ban on commercial motorcycles in Lagos by the State Government, the police boss said as law enforcement agents, his Command has been complying with the directive of the government. He enjoined the journalists to fully cooperate with the police.BEWARE All Rights Reserved.
