Insecurity: IGP orders police formations to screen vehicles, gift items
The Inspector-General of Police Alkali Baba, concerned about the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, with the latest being the terrorist attack on Kuje Prison in Abuja, where explosives were deployed, has ordered all police commands and formations across Nigeria to scale up security checks at their gates.
According to a police signal sighted by julianafrancisnews.com, the IGP was appalled at the security lapses he noticed at police commands and formations, with many police personnel allowing vehicles to drive through and parcels taken to different offices without proper scrutiny.
Most of these vehicle and parcel owners are believed to be familiar people, but the IGP had further ordered, that even police personnel, who are visitors at other commands, and visitors visiting police personnel should all be subjected to security checks.
He, therefore, directed all senior police personnel to ensure those under them thoroughly screen all police and visitors’ vehicles, parcel, and gift items driving into and being taken to all commands and formation headquarters.
The signal reads thus: “The IGP has observed with dismay that police vehicles are not being screened when entering police premises in view of the current security challenges nationwide. You are directed to thoroughly screen all police visitors’ vehicles, parcels, and gift items being taken or driving into all commands and formation headquarters to forestall any untoward incident.”
The IGP, thereafter, ordered strict compliance with the directives immediately.BEWARE All Rights Reserved.
