The Anambra State Police Command has collaborated with the Staff of Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare to rescue an eight years old girl, Idimmachikwu, from her abusive guardian identified as Mrs Chinyere Ifesinachi.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ikenga Tochukwu, said that the child was rescued on 12th of May at about 5:45 pm at Nkpor by King of Glory Road.

Tochukwu said: “The arrest followed a trending video and public outcry of the residents of the area, who saw Miss Idimmachikwu with different degrees of injuries all over her body allegedly perpetuated by her guardian Mrs Ifesinachi. The child is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

“The case has since been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department SCID, for comprehensive investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng. The CP has frowned at such inhuman treatment subjected to some housemaids, house helps by their guardians, assuring that the command will continue to do everything within his power to protect the vulnerable of such. The case shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation and justice shall be served.”
