The Abia State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attack on some policemen, leading to the death of two and another sustaining life-threatening injury.

According to the Police Situation Report, the victims were attached to Ogbor Hill Division and they were attacked on the 28th of June 2024 at about 5:30 pm.

The patrol team was attacked while on stop and search at Opobo Junction Ogborhill Aba.

The policemen were said to have been attacked by five gunmen who came in Silver Coloured Sienna car.

The attack left Superintendent of Police (SP)Ezekiel Sunday and Inspector Augustine Odobi dead, while Inspector Ibe Ikonne sustained a gun injury on his left leg.

The gunmen carted away two AK47 rifles.  The bodies of the policemen were later moved to a mortuary, while Odobi is battling to live in an undisclosed hospital.
