The Delta State Police Command has arrested and detained AP/NO.270433 Inspector  Afang Luke for accidentally shooting to death his colleague F/NO.413029 Corporal Chinonso Okafor, while both were trying to arrest some fleeing suspected cultists.

Luke and Okafor were part of raider teams chasing after some suspected cultists and when the cultists sighted the teams, they scampered, while the police pursued.

He was rushed to the hospital, but was confirmed dead on arrival. The incident happened on the 16th of January 2024 at about 4:30 PM.

Police sources state: “Two teams of Raiders Tactical Squad while on routine patrol at Mosogar intercepted some boys suspected to be cultists, who took to their heels on sighting the policemen.

“In a bid to arrest the hoodlums AP/NO.270433 inspector Afang Luke accidentally shot F/No.413029 Corporal Chinonso Okafor  at his  back region with an FNC rifle

“The victim was immediately rushed to Central Hospital Sapele where he was confirmed dead, Inspector Afang Luke is currently detained at Sapele division, while the two suspects arrested names yet unknown are also detained at Sapele division.”
