New Face Of LASTMA: LASG Begins Re-Training Of 309 Junior Officers To Promote Professionalism In Service Delivery To Motoring Public

In line with the ongoing strategic re-positioning of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for professionalism and more effective service delivery to the general public, the Lagos State Government today began an intensive In-house Training Programme for 309 Junior Officers across Zones.

The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare-Oki Olelakan disclosed during the Opening Ceremony of the ‘Re-Training Programme’ that the exercise was in line with ‘Traffic Management and Transportation’ as one of the cardinal programmes of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s ‘Themes+’ pillars for the development of the State.
Mr. Bakare-Oki disclosed further that the re-training exercise was primarily meant to create a new image for the Agency that would guarantee a refined and robust Traffic Management System (T.M.S) in the State as well as reduce traffic congestion across the State.
He confirmed that the exercise which would run for four (4) days began today with the re-training of the first batch of 81 Junior Officers (Males & Females) and is expected to end on Thursday, 1st of February, 2024.
“We map out new re-training modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten our Officers on new innovative ways to optimize their operations to meet up with International standard and best practices in traffic management”

Earlier in his welcome address, Lastma Director of Human Capacity, Development and Specialized Training Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba thanked the Government for approving the re-training programme for the Agency.
He maintained that the exercise would promote professionalism and quality road management service delivery across the State.
Course contents for the retraining exercise include Leadership Qualities, Operational Guidelines, Empathy and emotional management, Enforcement without aggression, Traffic Incidents Management and Safety, Attitudinal Change in Traffic Management, Human rights law Standards, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Discipline, Ethics and Standard in Traffic Management, Enhanced Capacity, Service Efficiency and Reliability and Religious Discretion in Traffic Management.
