On the 9th of February 2024 at about 5:45 PM, the operatives of the Edo State Police Command crack team led by the officer in charge, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adenodi Bamidele, while acting on a tip-off that a house occupied by one Saturday at Ologbo Community, Off Benin-Abraka Road, Benin City was loaded with large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, stormed the premises and arrested two suspects.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chidi Nwabuzor, identified the suspects as Gladys Omoruyi 40 and Emmanuel Nworie 20.
The image manager explained that the suspects were found to have five king-size weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
Nwabuzor said: “The exhibit is recovered, and the suspects are undergoing serious investigation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, advised parents and guidance to warn their children and wards to desist from using illicit drugs and to desist from their patronages.
“He strongly warned the dealers of these illicit drugs to stop their blood money, making illicit drugs business otherwise willing to face the wrath of the law.”
