The Delta State Police Command said it has recovered several arms and ammunition after raiding suspected criminal hideouts in the state.

A police spokesman in the state, Bright Edafe attributed the success to credible information and the swift responses of the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi.

He further explained that acting on credible intelligence gathered on the activities of suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in the Kwale axis, the CP directed the Commander Quick Response Squad to work discreetly on the intelligence.

Acting on this directive, the Commander, a Superintendent of Police, Osadolor Godwin, on the 8th of June, 2024, at about 11: 40am led a surveillance team attached to the Kwale Division and stormed their hideout in an uncompleted building.

Edafe said: “Two suspects, upon sighting the Police opened fire and escaped in the process.  Three locally Made Guns,  two Pump Action guns, One AK-47 Magazine,  34  rounds of live Cartridges, and 51 rounds of AK 47 Ammunition were recovered. Efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects are ongoing.”
