Man Sentenced To Prison After Pleading Guilty To Touching Buttocks, Breasts Of Minor

-

Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday, 15th October 2024, sentenced 21-year-old Damilare Olanrewaju to five years imprisonment for fondling a 15-year-old girl’s breasts in public.

The judgement was shared on the Official Twitter Account of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

His name will be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.

Olanrewaju was also convicted of sexually assaulting the girl by caressing her buttocks with his hands and had pleaded guilty to the amended two-count charge of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

The judge held that the court was satisfied that the convict understood the plea bargain agreement and was satisfied by the advice of his counsel.

He said: “I have found you guilty of indecent act and sexual assault contrary to sections 134 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

“You are hereby sentenced to two years on count one and three years imprisonment on count two. The sentences shall run consecutively.”

“The convict must undergo counselling through the Lagos state Domestic and Violence Agency (DSVA) in line with his plea bargain agreement.”

The prosecutor told the court that the convict committed the offence on December 22, 2022, on Abutu Street, Elijah Bus Stop, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

This offence contravened Sections 134 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 and Olanrewaju, having been found guilty of the two counts, is hereby sentenced to 5 years imprisonment on both counts.
