Women Can Stand As Sureties In Bail Applications, Says Replace To Mile12 Market Traders

-

A non-governmental organisation, Rights Enforcement and Public Law Centre, (REPLACE) on the 14th of December, 2024, visited Mile 12 Market in Lagos State Metropolis, educating women traders on how to harness embedded in Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL).

The sensitisation programme was carried out with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (RoLAC).

The Executive Director of a not-for-profit organisation, Rights Enforcement and Public Law Centre, REPLACE, Ms Felicitas Aigbogun-Bra, applauded the reception given to the REPLACE group by the Iyaloja of the market.

Thereafter the market women were given materials like posters, tee-shirts, and scarves with the Human Rights for Women slogan.

The group spent quality time at the market, talking to the traders, including male traders at the grassroots level about the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.

According to Aigbogun-Bra, the traders were told, “Nobody can be arrested just because police cannot find the real suspect that they are looking for. Women can stand as sureties in bail applications at the police station.”
