NSCDC Arrests Driver, Scrap Dealers, Fraudsters, Operating Fake Online Payment Schemes

The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, on Monday, 3rd February 2025, at the Command’s Headquarters, in Alahusa, Ikeja, paraded, four suspects arrested for various offences.

 

The Lagos State Commandant in the first instance, paraded, one Olamilekan Olowookere, m, aged, 29years, from Osun State, involved, in the deliberate vandalism of a DAF truck, which he was originally employed to drive.

The Command’s spokesman, SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, said: “Olowookere was arrested around the Guinness axis of Ikeja, on Monday, 27th January 2025, at about 9:am, alongside Abba Idris, 28, a scrap dealer and Ejitunde Wasiu, 48, a vulcanizer.

“Both suspects were arrested by the patrol team of the Command, for vandalism and dismembering the truck he was employed, to drive, but later found to have sold the parts as scraps to his potential buyers.”

In another development, the Lagos State Commandant also paraded, one Ahmed Hamisu, 28, who has mastered the act of operating fake payment receipts, for online purchases, in a bid to defraud unsuspecting victims and general members of the public.

 

Upon receiving the first complaints, from two direct victims ( names withheld ), of the above online payment scams, by Ahmed Hamisu and his group, the Command immediately, deployed, operatives, who later got Ahmed Hamisu apprehended, on Sunday, 24th January 2025, at about 4:pm, at Orege road, Ajegunle, Ajeromi – Ifelodun.

However, Yinusa, Mohammed and some other members of the group are presently, at large but they are still being trailed, by the command.

 

Abolurin said: “The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, while addressing the members of the fourth estate of the realm said that the investigation proved that the online scammers arrested, often used fake alerts to defraud business owners, intimidate, and impersonate by using military camouflage and berets, use of multiple phone numbers, to communicate with their victims such as the followings; 07061467078, 09027162617, 08142648467,08024686757,07087007106,07042963628.

 

“The Lagos State Commandant also seized the opportunity to alert the general public of the nefarious activities of online scammers, who have the evil intentions of inflicting pain and hardships, on the lives of unsuspecting victims.

“He cautioned, citizens to desist from transacting businesses, with people they have no relationship with as it may have adverse effects on them eventually.

 

“He also warned vandals to desist from their evil acts or continue to face the full wrath of the law as the command will do everything in its powers, to continue to prosecute them by the laws of the land.”
