CP Meets Senior Officers, Harps On Professionalism, Respect For Human Rights

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, met with the members of the Command’s Management Team, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Sectional Heads as well as members of the Inspectors and Non-Commissioned Officers on Thursday, 13th February, 2025, for his briefing in Lokoja.

The CP further emphasised that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has mandated all Officers to carry out enforcement operations with integrity and a high level of professionalism while urging them not to exploit the exercise as a money-making venture stressing that the primary objective is to protect public interest, and ensure total compliance with traffic Laws, and to educate road users on their rights and responsibilities regarding vehicles insurance Policy.

 

While delivering his lecture, the State Coordinator, of Retail Insured Family (an Insurance company), Mr Addi Onimisi Abdulfatai, commended the Inspector General of Police for his efforts to ensure strict adherence to the provision of Third-Party Insurance Policy. The session aimed to equip Officers with the necessary knowledge to guide motorists accurately and to avoid conflicts during enforcement operations.

 

The CP further addressed concerns raised by the public about harassment during Third-Party insurance enforcement. He issued a stern warning to officers against unprofessional conduct and stressed that any reported abuse would attract severe disciplinary action.

 

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from all Officers to prioritize human rights protection, ensure proper welfare for their subordinates, and carry out their duties professionally with honesty and the fear of God.

 

To this end, the CP assured Kogites that, the Command remains committed to fostering a safe, just, and law-abiding society through ethical law enforcement practices.
