If You Are Found Wanting, You Will Be Shown The Way Out, EFCC Boss Tells Trainees

-

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, charged trainee Detective Superintendent Cadets Course 10 members to see their training as an investment by Nigeria and should strive to repay the gesture by serving with loyalty and dedication.

He made the call at the flag-off of the first set of Detective Superintendent Course-10 under his watch as the EFCC’s boss.

He enjoined the Cadets who are being trained at the EFCC’s Academy to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Commission,  their parents or guardians and acquit themselves well in every phase of their training

“Your training is an investment by our great country, Nigeria, and you are expected to repay this gesture by serving with loyalty and dedication. Needless to add the future of the fight against corruption and other forms of economic and financial crimes belongs to you,” he said.

“Let me remind you all that you are coming on board the EFCC’s ship at a very critical time both in the life of the country and the nation.  At the level of the EFCC, you are coming on board at a time when the public demands greater professionalism and integrity from all operatives of the EFCC”,   he said.

Continuing, Olukoyede charged the trainee Cadets to be above board both in the Academy and afterwards. “The Commission will not tolerate indiscipline and unprofessional conduct including substance abuse and truancy,” he said.

The EFCC boss  also warned the Cadets against any form of misconduct adding that the  Commission will not only sanction any culprit  but also prosecute them.

“Any of you found wanting in the course of the training will be shown the way out. If there is any among you whose primary motive for wanting to work with the EFCC is to come and make money, I enjoin you to have a rethink. Ours is an operation that is driven by passion and the love of country. You must place the interest of Nigeria above personal interest to survive in the EFCC,” he  said.

In his remarks, Acting Commandant,  EFCC Academy, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Jospeh Ogwiji, stated that the training was designed to provide the Cadets with special knowledge in fraud prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution adding “they will receive practical field experience through simulated and real world investigative exercises, as well as  ethical and leadership training to ensure that they uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Physical and mental resilience training to prepare them for the demands of law enforcement work in Nigeria and beyond.”

He charged them to imbibe high level of discipline and integrity and a commitment to work and learning. “Discipline and integrity are non-negotiable values in law enforcement, commitment to learning will define your success in this course and your future career, teamwork and collaboration are essential in achieving operational success. Resilience and adaptability will be required to excel in the challenging field of financial crime investigation,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the Cadets,  Ogbason Gloria Areson, stated that the opportunity given to them by the EFCC to serve the nation in the fight against corruption cannot be overemphasized. “This opportunity given to us cannot be overemphasized, Among thousands of Nigerians who applied for this training, we were selected through a rigorous and meticulous process which indeed shows that the EFCC is a testament to integrity. Today, we pledge our absolute loyalty and dedication to the Commission and Nigeria as a whole as we embark on this training, we are not merely acquiring skills but we are embracing a profound responsibility, we are also reminded that the fight against economic and financial crimes is not just a duty but a call to serve our dear nation.
