Arase Congratulates Ex-President Jonathan On His Being Awarded The Prestigious 2025 Peace Prize

-

A former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr Solomon Arase, who is also a former Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PS), has sent a congratulatory message to the former President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, following his nomination for the 2025 edition of the Sunhak Peace Award.

According to Arase, Jonathan’s nomination for the award is a well-deserved recognition and a testament to Jonathan’s unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and good governance in Nigeria and across Africa.

Jonathan is the first African to win the Award and joins other world statesmen and former awardees such as former Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, a Korean national and former Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen.

Jonathan ran the affairs of Nigeria for five years and his famous mantra is, “My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.”

During the 2015 Presidential Election, he called and accepted defeat at the polls by Major General Muhammadu Buhari, thereby, checkmating what many local and international observers would have been a bloodbath, if he had contested the polls.

Arase’s congratulatory message reads: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, on being awarded the prestigious 2025 Peace Prize.

“This well-deserved recognition is a testament to your unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and good governance in Nigeria and across Africa. Your leadership marked by humility and a deep sense of patriotism, continues to inspire generations, and this honour reaffirms the immense impact of your efforts in fostering dialogue, stability, and national cohesion.

“Your dedication to conflict resolution, democratic transitions, and institutional reforms has set a remarkable precedent for leaders everywhere. This award is yet another milestone in your enduring legacy of service and statesmanship.

“May this recognition further strengthen your resolve to champion peace, unity, and sustainable development across the globe. Congratulations once again, Your Excellency! Accept the assurances of my esteemed regards, please.”
