OSJRP Commends Appointment of Monday Agbonika As Edo CP

-

The Open Society on Justice Reform Project (OSJRP), Lagos State, has applauded the appointment of Monday Agbonika as the new Commissioner of Police for Edo State.

The Executive Director of OSJRP, Samuel Akpologun Esq, said: “We are familiar with Monday Agbonika’s professional antecedents and trajectory and therefore are confident that his appointment reflects a commitment to elevating ethical standards and effective leadership within the Nigerian Police Force.

“COP Agbonika’s distinguished career is marked by transformative leadership and an unwavering dedication to integrity.

“His dexterity and exceptional service were first noticed by us during his tenure as the Divisional Police Officer at Isokoko Police Station in Lagos, he implemented community-centric policing strategies that revitalized the division’s reputation. His stance against bribery was not just rhetoric but common knowledge that everyone attested to. His leadership which is marked by integrity and elimination of police extortion were recognized internationally, including a commendation from the Wall Street Journal.”

Akpologun said that given recent security challenges in Edo State, including the tragic lynching incidents, CP Agbonika’s appointment was timely.

The human rights lawyer added: “He has a proven track record in fostering community trust and addressing security concerns. This positions him as the ideal leader to navigate and mitigate these challenges in the new appointment.

“We are optimistic that under CP Agbonika’s stewardship, Edo State will experience enhanced security, strengthened community relations, and a restoration of public confidence in law enforcement.”
