Smart Police Officers Pose As Buyers Of Stolen Vehicle To Arrest Fleeing Thief, Soldier

-

Some Nigerian Police Officers left their comfort zones to practice and display what real Police work is all about.

These policemen, posing as interested buyers in a vehicle stolen in Lagos State, were able to lure out the prime suspect, Bethel Friday George, who stole the car in Lagos State, arrested a soldier, George Nsisong, who assisted Bethel to beat security checkpoints and also arrested a soft target who was frantically fishing for buyers for Bethel.

Bethel from Idung Udo Village in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom was employed as a driver to one employer residing in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State. He absconded with a brand new 2024 Toyota Hilux Adventure SRS, black in colour, with no registration since three weeks ago.

Bethel thought he was home free after disappearing from Lagos State with the vehicle. He was shocked witless when his supposed buyers turned out to be police officers.

George Nsisong was arrested while in full military attire. He claimed to be a corporal in the Nigerian army attached to Operation Delta Safe OPDS in Bayelsa State.

To ensure that the fleeing Bethel was arrested and the vehicle recovered, the Police officers did not go undercover, but also travelled to different states.

Security watchers believed that the gang had been operating for years.

Securitynewsalert.com learned that: “Police Officers in Eket on the 18th of April 2025 at about 5:pm, received Intel from Abuja that one Bethel Friday George of Idung Udo Village In Eket Local Government Area, who was employed as a driver to one employer residing in Lekki Phase 1 Lagos State, absconded with a brand new 2024 Toyota HiLux Aventure SRS, black in colour,  with no registration since three weeks ago.

“The details, including photographs and contacts of the suspect, were sent to Eket and other police commands and formations, wherein analysis was made and one of the soft targets picked up in Eket.

“The soft target has been having a series of communications with the suspect, who was tracked down to Benin City in Edo State in a quest for a quick buyer of the said vehicle.

“Sequel to this development, a purported buyer was arranged with the help of the soft target to lure him close. The said suspect was later arrested alongside one George Nsisong with full military attire, who claimed to be a corporal in the Nigerian army attached to Operation Delta Safe OPDS in Bayelsa State.

“The vehicle recovered in his possession and on interrogation, the suspect ( Bethel) confessed and admitted stealing the said vehicle.

“He said that he was looking for a fast buyer, and with the help of the soldier, he beat checkpoints. Meanwhile investigation is ongoing to further check if they have any link with the kidnapping operations.”
