Inspectors Promotion: PSC Chairman Warns Against Financial Inducement

-

The Departmental Selection Board (DSB) interview for Inspectors due for promotion to the next rank of unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP 2) will be held at the 17  Police Zonal Command Headquarters from Monday, May 19, 2025.

The Board interview is a condition for consideration of senior Inspectors for promotion to the next rank.

The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argung, confirmed that staff of the Commission will be deployed to all the Zonal Command Headquarters to conduct the promotion interview in partnership with Officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

The PSC Chairman however warned that candidates for the interview should desist from contributing money for officials of the Commission or the Police who will be conducting the interview at the different zones.

He said the Commission will deal ruthlessly with any Police Officer or Officers found to be involved in any way, attempting to induce or compromise officials of the Commission or Police Officers supervising the exercise. Such Officers he warned, will not only be sanctioned but disgraced.

DIG Argungu said he is aware of what was obtainable in the past, where contributions were made by the candidates for interview and handed over to the supervising officials.

He said the Commission will  put an end to this discreditable act and ensure that the Departmental Selection Board is devoid of any financial inducement.

The PSC Chairman noted that promotion and its processes in the Nigeria Police Force will henceforth be based on merit and availability of vacancies.

He advised that Police Officers scheduled for the promotion interview should be prepared to face the interview panel and earn their promotion.

The Commission, he said, will continue to ensure that the Nigeria Police Force is capable and ready to secure our environment and maintain law and order, where citizens are free to pursue their daily obligations.
