The Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy and Development (FENRAD)  has announced the election of its Executive Director, Comrade Nelson Nnanna Nwafor, as the Southeast Zonal Coordinator of Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Nigeria.

This significant development, which occurred during the national Election of the PWYP Nigeria coalition, marks a remarkable recognition of Comrade Nwafor’s unwavering commitment to environmental justice, resource governance, transparency, and accountability in the extractive industries.
As the new Southeast Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Nwafor will be responsible for coordinating advocacy, policy engagement, capacity building, and grassroots mobilization among civil society organizations in the Southeast geopolitical zone. His leadership is expected to deepen the coalition’s impact in promoting open and accountable natural resource management across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states.
Comrade Nwafor brings with him over a decade of active civic engagement, leading FENRAD in promoting environmental rights, anti-corruption campaigns, climate action, and sustainable development goals (SDGs). His election is not only a personal milestone but also an institutional endorsement of FENRAD’s growing role in extractive sector governance and civic transparency.
FENRAD expresses its deepest gratitude to the leadership and members of the PWYP Nigeria coalition for their confidence in Comrade Nwafor and reiterates its commitment to continue working collaboratively towards promoting openness, citizens’ participation, and justice in the extractive industries.
FENRAD urged all stakeholders, community leaders, the media, and civil society actors in the Southeast to rally behind Comrade Nwafor in his new role, as he champions the values of PWYP and drives inclusive change for resource-rich communities.
