Suspects arrested for the abduction of six people, snatching N6m

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six men in connection with the kidnapping of six victims and snatching of N6million.

The suspects arrested in connection with the kidnap have been identified as Mohammadu Abdullahi, 20, Umar Mohammed 25, Abubakar Umaru 25, Hadari Mohammadu 31, Ibrahim Tanko 33 and Mohammadu Bello, 27.

Alhaji Ishaku Umaru on 3rd September 2022, at about 8:AM, reported at Komu Divisional Police Headquarters that on the 2nd September  2022, at about 9:PM, some gunmen invaded his camp at Abuja Leather area of Komu, shooting sporadically and abducted his two children, Ishaku Sharadeen, 15, Umaru Abubakar, 13 years and his worker Mallam Bashir Bamidele, 58. The complainant further stated that the gunmen robbed him of N6million meant for buying precious stones.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso revealed that in a similar situation on the 27th of August 2022 at about 6:PM, the same syndicate kidnapped Shuibu Musa, 38 and Musa Agwai, 37, at a point between Komu town and Abuja Leather while on motorcycle.

“On receipt of the information, the team of police detectives visited the scene of the crime and combed the forest and other suspected criminal hideouts and rescued the victims unhurt. Upon their arrest, four of the victims identified the six suspects as among those that kidnapped them,” said Osifeso.

The image maker also explained that on the 19th of September 2022, at about 9:AM, Mutiu Onimalu of Ajoke Estate reported verbally that he saw a micra oyo state colour painted with registration number MNY 999 XA driving out of their Estate and upon questioning the occupant, Adamu Abass, he discovered that Kehinde surname yet unknown, a private security guard to one Mr Salawudeen’s house brought the said Adamu Abass to steal six cartons of montering nails each valued N50,000.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the said Adamu Abass is a scavenger and the Kehinde, presently on the run had introduced him to the security guards attached to the Estate for easy passage. Adamu Abass confessed that he had bought scraps from the said Kehinde more than thrice. He was known by the duo of Taiwo Fabiyi and Rotimi Oguntoyinbo, security guards attached to the Estate and that for every trip he used to give them N6000. The investigation is ongoing in arresting the fleeing suspect,” said Osifeso.
