Police rescue two brothers kidnapped on grazing field

Detectives attached to the Oyo State Police Command said they have rescued two brothers kidnapped while on a grazing field.

The two brothers, Abubakar Usman Warago,18 and Haruna Idowu Warago, 15, on 13the August 2022 at about 6:PM, were abducted.

One Surajo Mohammed 21, was arrested in connection with the kidnapping of the brothers. Exhibits recovered from the suspect are a single barrel, two Techni phones and one Itel phone.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso explained: “The case was reported at Otu Divisional Police Headquarters by Alhaji Isman Shehu Warago that on the same date his two sons were forcibly abducted while on grazing field along Otu area of Oyo State to an unknown destination. On receipt of the information, the Oyo State Police Command through its Ambush Unit/AKS in synergy with select non-state actors swung into action and organized rescue teams. The team consistently combed the forest and other suspected criminal hideouts of the abductors to rescue the victims. The end result was the unconditional rescue of the victims and the arrest of an alleged prime suspect, Surajo Mohammadu on the 14th of August 2022 at about 9:am inside the forest at Ofiki area of Oyo State. In addition, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and is presently helping with the ongoing investigations.”

Similarly, 11 years old Abubakar Sheri was abducted by three men while on a grazing field in Otu area of Oyo State to an unknown destination. The child was kidnapped on the 29th of June at about 6:PM.

Osifeso said: “On receipt of the information, the Command’s Anti-kidnaping unit in concert with the Officer in Charge of AKS in synergy with local hunters and vigilantes swung coordinated rescue searches combing deep into the forest and suspected criminal hideout, to rescue the hostage unhurt. This painstaking effort led to the rescue of the victim unhurt on the 3rd of July 2022 at about 4:30 PM. The investigation by the AKS ambush men led to the arrest of Abubakar Ali 20, at his hideout at Iseyin area of Oyo State. The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and the roles he played in the commission of the crime. Investigation continues with the assurances of prompt updates, please.”
