The National Youth Committee of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has expressed grave concern over the recent defamatory remarks made by Mr. Omoyele Sowore against the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
During a protest held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, which Mr. Sowore led alongside a group of retired police officers, he falsely accused ACP Adejobi of being involved in the alleged disappearance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) eyeglasses.
According to Engr. Junaid Olatunji Victor, National Youth Coordinator, PCRC, these claims are unfounded, malicious, and entirely without merit.
He added: “Such reckless statements not only seek to tarnish the reputation of a disciplined and well-respected officer but also aim to demoralise members of the Nigeria Police Force and erode public confidence in its integrity.
“The PCRC Youth Committee views these actions as part of a calculated attempt to discredit the Nigeria Police Force and destabilise the nation’s security architecture. Mr. Sowore, as a public figure, is expected to exercise a higher level of responsibility and decorum in his public conduct.
“In light of these developments, the PCRC National Youth Committee hereby issues a 7-day ultimatum to Mr. Omoyele Sowore to: Tender a public apology to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and retract his defamatory statements through the same media platforms on which they were originally published.
“Failure to meet these demands will prompt the Committee to pursue further actions, including the public exposure of individuals and foreign entities allegedly supporting Mr. Sowore’s agenda to undermine Nigeria’s security framework.
“The PCRC remains firmly committed to promoting trust, integrity, and professionalism between the police and the communities they serve.”
