In a devastating outbreak of violence on the morning of July 25, 2025, gunmen suspected to be affiliated with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), launched a brutal assault on three communities in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
The attack targeted Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno, claiming the lives of more than seven residents and critically injuring several others.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has denounced the incident as “barbaric, inhumane, and unacceptable.” In a swift reaction, the Imo State Command deployed tactical and intelligence units to comb the affected areas, leading to a restoration of control and increased security presence to deter further attacks.
The Command reassured residents of ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators, emphasising that proactive measures are now in place to safeguard lives and property. CP Danjuma personally led the counter-operations and stressed the Command’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the region.
Expressing sympathy to the victims’ families, CP Danjuma extended prayers for the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Command has urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative, encouraging anyone with relevant information to reach out via emergency lines — 08034773600 or 08103341610. All reports will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
