The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad, Ikeja, has commenced interrogation and investigation into the case of one Christian God’s Light, who was arrested wearing a complete Mobile Police Force uniform and in possession of an assault Beretta rifle loaded with six rounds of ammunition.
According to God’s Light, he was recruited, issued a uniform, and armed with a rifle by a serving Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ihedioha Lawrence (AP No. 244410), attached to PMF 2, Obalende, Lagos. The motive behind Lawrence’s action remains unclear.
SecurityNewsAlert.com gathered that on September 4, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., the Chairman of Egbe Idimu LCDA, Prince Idris Balogun, alerted police after spotting a man in a full Mobile Police uniform, loitering within the LCDA premises and wielding a firearm. Suspicious of his identity, the chairman reported the incident.
Operatives from Idimu Police Station immediately mobilised a patrol team to the scene, where Christian God’s Light was apprehended with the rifle and ammunition.
Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted he was not a police officer and reiterated that he had been illegally recruited and armed by ASP Lawrence.
The said officer has since been arrested. Both suspects, along with the recovered exhibit, have been handed over to the CP’s Special Squad in Ikeja for further investigation.
