Delta Police Arrests Five Over Cultism, Firearms in Ibusa, Asaba

-

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspects in separate operations for alleged involvement in cult activities and unlawful possession of firearms across Ibusa Town and Asaba.

In a press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) acted on credible intelligence on September 10, 2025, to track down one Oluwatobi Olugbemi, 29, a native of Ikenne-Remo, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, but resident in Ogboli Quarters, Ibusa.

During a search of his residence, officers recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition. The suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Arrow Barger.” He is currently in custody while investigations continue.

In a related development, on September 9, 2025, operatives of Safe Delta, while on surveillance patrol along DBS Road, Asaba, sighted a group of young men fighting. One of them was armed with a cutlass. Officers swiftly intervened and arrested Raphael Chukwuemeka, 23, from whom a cut-to-size double-barrelled pistol and seven live cartridges were recovered.

Similarly, on September 10, 2025, at about 10:30 a.m., Safe Delta operatives on stop-and-search duty at Head Bridge, Asaba, intercepted three young men — Solomon Offor (22), Ifesinachi Nwankeze (19), and Ambrose Ugwuba (23). A search of their motorcycle and belongings led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, cartridges, and a dagger concealed in a bag.

SP Bright confirmed that all suspects are in custody and assured that investigations are ongoing to unravel their networks and possible links to other criminal activities.
