I received this troubling information this morning from Abuja. A certain Mr.
Jeffery Eboehi, who runs a medical lab office in the Kuduru, Bwari Police Station, impregnated a 14-year-old girl in the community who was their domestic help and helped as a cleaner and errand girl in the lab.
She is in JSS 1 and from a poor family; her mum, the breadwinner, sells roasted corn and plaits hair to sustain their home, while her dad is a struggling carpenter.
She was raped and impregnated by the lab owner, Mr Eboehi, who, after being named as the culprit, threatened the poor family to have the pregnancy aborted. The family refused, fearing for the girl’s life.
At one point, they ran away from home to stay in a midwife’s home due to his constant threats, and recently, the teenager gave birth to a baby boy through CS at a local hospital.
On Monday this week (September 22), three days after the baby was born, Mr Eboehi, obviously bent on concealing his crime, went to the girl’s home at about 5 am under the guise of reconciliation.
He allegedly took and fed the baby with snipper liquid. The baby, gravely ill, was rushed to a hospital where he was put on oxygen until yesterday (September 25).
Neighbours were alerted, and police were called in, and Mr Eboehi was arrested and taken to the Bwari Police Station. His wife, who allegedly called him in the course of his arrest to ask ‘how far with the operation and whether he’s not yet done with,’ was also arrested as an accomplice but has been released.
Now the new unsettling development: following the arrest of Mr. Pedophile by the police, right now, his local church authorities there at Kuduru, Bwari are rallying church members to ‘unite and prevail on the local chief to in turn prevail on the local police authorities to die the matter and not escalate the matter to higher authorities’ (I was given these details by one of the community members who is also under pressure to render ‘support’ to the pedophile and who pleads anonymity.)
Their warped logic is that the pedophile should be spared the wrath of the tos to care for the baby, the same innocent baby whose life he attempted to take.
I was also told that this is the third girl that Mr Eboehi would be impregnating in the community in recent years, with zero consequence.
This is a humble call on civil society organisations in Abuja and the NAPTIP office in Abuja to please wade in and ensure justice for the poor girl and her family.
The girl’s family’s very impoverished situation is being exploited, and this is a searing cry for justice for the teenage mother, her poisoned baby and her family. It’s a war cry against roaming pedophiles and their devilish, supporting spouses, as well as godless people masquerading as dubious religiosity.
The police must ensure this man is prosecuted and not allow any form of compromise, to end his evil pedophilia reign and damage to young girls/children and to send a clear message to other pedophiles that they have no hiding place in Nigeria.
