Court Restrains Lagos Police Commissioner from Declaring Sowore Wanted

-

The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has issued an order restraining the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, from declaring activist and politician Omoyele Sowore wanted.
Sowore, who disclosed the development via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on November 5, described the police commissioner as “incompetent” and confirmed that the court had intervened to halt any such declaration.

“I just left the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, where the court restrained the incompetent CP of @policeng Lagos Command, Moshood Jimoh, from declaring Omoyele Sowore WANTED!” Sowore posted.

The court’s decision comes amid rising tensions between Sowore and the Lagos Police Command, though details surrounding the attempted declaration remain unclear. Legal observers say the ruling underscores the judiciary’s role in checking executive overreach and protecting civil liberties.

As of press time, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official response to the court’s ruling.
