Police Command Foils Banditry Attempt, Recovers Arms, Cash in Kebbi

-

The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat banditry and violent crimes in the state. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the No. 36 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Birnin Kebbi, intercepted and apprehended five suspected bandits along the Zuru–Tadurga road in the early hours of Sunday.
At about 1:00 a.m., the patrol team deployed under Operation Restore Peace intercepted the suspects, identified as Bako Aliyu of Nanarki village, Sani Alaramma of Wawan Icce village, Umaru Tafsi of Birnin Tudu village, Mamman Sani Danzakara of Mallamawa village, and Lawali Sani of Birnin Tudu village. All suspects hail from Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State and are believed to be linked to recent attacks in the region.

During interrogation, the police recovered seven fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, three Dane guns, three AK-47 magazines, forty-three rounds of 7.62×39mm live ammunition, forty-six live cartridges, two empty shells of 7.62×39mm, and cash totalling ₦2,623,900. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation aimed at uncovering the syndicate’s modus operandi and tracking down other members of the gang.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the professionalism and bravery of the PMF personnel involved in the operation. He urged them to sustain the momentum until banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes are eradicated from the state. CP Sani reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while appealing to residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
