Troops Bust Criminal Gang, Recover Arms in Delta State

Troops of the 63 Brigade, Sector 1, Joint Task Force South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, have successfully dismantled a criminal gang and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to Captain Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of the gang around Ibusa. Two suspected criminals, alleged to be members of a notorious cult group, were arrested during the raid.

Several weapons were recovered in the course of the operation. Two pump-action rifles were seized from the suspects, while three more were taken from purported local vigilantes. In a follow-up operation at Umuisiagba, troops combed the area and discovered an additional eight pump-action rifles.

Altogether, thirteen suspects were apprehended in connection with the operations. They include Nwaokonta Elvis, Obi Victor Woke, Uba Elijah, Nonso Ibiora, Dumbili Ezefili, Ndefu Ifeanyi, Ozemene Richard, Broderick Patrick, Nwaokonta Afamefile, Kelvin Ejiani, Victor Ogochukwu, Ogadi Kelvin Ikechukwu, and Ndibuisi Obiogonna, a native doctor.

Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, Commander of 63 Brigade, commended the troops for their vigilance and urged them to intensify efforts to clamp down on criminal networks in the region. He reassured residents of Delta State and its environs that the Brigade remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
