The Nigerian Army has announced a significant victory against terrorist elements in Sokoto State, following a fierce battle in Kadam Forest under Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
According to a statement released by the Army Headquarters, seen by Securitynewsalert.com, troops from the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7, working alongside the 8 Division Strike Team, engaged a notorious terrorist network affiliated with the Lakurawa group in Tangaza Local Government Area.
“Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, our troops intercepted over 100 terrorists who had converged deep within Kadam Forest to coordinate attacks and kidnappings,” said Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations.
The clash began around 1200 hours and was described as “fierce and sustained.” When the terrorists attempted a rear-flanking manoeuvre, the soldiers responded with superior firepower, neutralising the threat and maintaining tactical dominance.
Subsequent operations confirmed the elimination of three terrorists, with several others believed to have fled with gunshot wounds.
The troops recovered a cache of weapons and equipment, including a PKT machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, 350 rounds of PKT ammunition, 111 rounds of 7.62 Special, three magazines, radios, motorcycles, and a mobile phone.
