The Delta State Police Command has dismantled a kidnapping syndicate, rescuing three victims and recovering an AK-47 rifle following a high-stakes shootout in the Issele-Uku bush.
The operation began after a kidnapping report reached the Issele-Uku Division on March 16, 2026. Taking immediate action, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aderemi Badiru, spearheaded a joint task force consisting of police officers, military personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters.
The rescue mission turned into a tactical confrontation as security forces tracked the syndicate to their hideouts. Upon discovery, the kidnappers opened fire, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire deep within the forest. According to official reports, the superior firepower of the joint security team eventually forced the criminals to scatter.
During the encounter, the security teams successfully rescued all three victims unharmed. One suspect was fatally wounded during the shootout, and an AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Following a meticulous sweep of the surrounding brush, operatives apprehended 22-year-old Ahmadu Hassan, a native of Nasarawa State, who was found nursing gunshot injuries.
“The injured suspect is currently receiving treatment under Police custody,” stated Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe. “Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate as investigations progress.”
The rescued victims have since been safely reunited with their families, bringing an end to their harrowing ordeal.
The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, lauded the gallantry and synergy displayed by the various security units involved in the mission. He emphasised that the success of the operation was a testament to what can be achieved through inter-agency cooperation.
“We remain unwavering in our commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the State,” CP Adesola said. “I urge residents to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information. Our eyes are everywhere.”
The body of the deceased suspect has been deposited in a mortuary, while the Command continues its manhunt for the remaining gang members. #Securitynewsalert.com
