Umahi Under Fire as Omoyele Sowore Revives Missing Engineers Case, Questions DNA Evidence

-

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reignited concerns over the unresolved disappearance of five engineers, raising fresh allegations against Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi.

Sowore alleged that the engineers went missing during Umahi’s tenure, stressing that the circumstances surrounding their disappearance remain unclear and unresolved. According to him, the issue resurfaced following mounting public pressure that compelled authorities to respond.

He further claimed that remains purportedly belonging to the missing engineers were later presented, but DNA tests allegedly contradicted those claims.

“Five engineers disappeared under his watch, and they have not been found,” Sowore said. “When pressure mounted, bones were presented, and they claimed they belonged to the engineers. But when DNA tests were carried out, it was discovered that the remains were not those of the missing engineers.”

The activist noted that the controversy has sparked renewed public interest and emboldened individuals with similar grievances to speak out.

Sowore also linked the development to remarks reportedly made by Umahi about his influence within the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggesting that such statements may have encouraged more alleged victims to come forward.

“What I’m glad happened with this particular man called Umahi is that his admittance that he’s the most powerful minister under Tinubu allowed other victims to start coming out,” he added.

The allegations have intensified calls from civil society groups and concerned citizens for a thorough and transparent investigation into the disappearance of the engineers, as well as the authenticity of the remains presented as evidence. #Securitynewsalert.com
