Operation Whirl Stroke Rescues Kidnap Victim, Arrests Suspects in Benue Clearance Operations

-

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke secured significant operational breakthroughs following a series of intelligence-led raids across Benue State on March 24, 2026.

Acting on credible reports of armed herder activities in the Mbapa and Mbabuande communities of Gwer West Local Government Area, troops from Sector 1 mobilised to clear the area.

During the mission, they uncovered an abandoned criminal hideout and conducted a tactical sweep across the River Akpako, resulting in the arrest of two suspects who are currently undergoing interrogation.

Simultaneously, a joint rescue mission between the military and the Benue State Civil Protection Guard was launched in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.

The team stormed a suspected hideout in Tse-Ubena village, successfully rescuing 28-year-old Mrs Member Ityavber.

She has since received care, been debriefed, and reunited with her family. Major General Moses Gara, Force Commander of the Joint Task Force, praised the troops for their professionalism and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to securing the region as the local farming season approaches. #Securitynewsalert.com
