The Commander of the Mining Marshal unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Assistant Commandant of Corps John Onoja Attah, has been honoured with the Man of the Year and Exemplary Super Cop Leadership awards at the 2026 Rainbow Hall of Fame Awards.
The awards were presented during the 12th edition of the Rainbow Hall of Fame Awards (RAHFA), held on Saturday at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Attah, who heads the NSCDC’s Mining Marshal unit established to combat illegal mining activities across the country, was represented at the event by Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Lagos State Command.
The Mining Marshal initiative was created in line with the Federal Government’s economic diversification agenda aimed at strengthening the solid minerals sector and reducing dependence on oil revenue. The unit operates under the Ministry of Steel and Solid Minerals to curb illegal mining, environmental degradation and other criminal activities associated with the sector.
The Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has been credited with spearheading reforms and strengthening enforcement efforts in the mining industry through the establishment of the Mining Marshal task force.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of Rainbow Global Events and Magazine, Niyi Johnson Omogbenigun, said the awards were designed to recognise Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields.
According to him, the initiative is driven by a commitment to celebrate hardworking, talented and courageous Nigerians whose contributions positively impact society.
Barrister Morufu Ajani Animashaun presented the awards on behalf of the organisers.
