Ogun Police Command Boosts Community Relations with State-Wide Sensitisation Campaign

-

The Ogun State Police Command took to the streets on Wednesday to mark the third day of the 2026 Police Week.

The initiative, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” saw the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, PSC, MNIPR, FCSS, personally leading officers in a comprehensive public sensitisation exercise that spanned across all Area Commands and Divisions in the state.

The campaign addressed two critical pillars of public order: democratic stability and transport safety. Officers engaged with citizens to provide education on the prevention of electoral malpractice, specifically highlighting the legal and social consequences of electoral violence, ballot box snatching, and voter intimidation.

Simultaneously, the Command emphasised the importance of road safety, urging motorists and pedestrians alike to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to reduce accidents and ensure a seamless flow of commerce within the state.

Moving beyond traditional enforcement, the Command adopted a “soft policing” approach to foster goodwill. During the exercise, officers distributed cooked meals, refreshments, and souvenirs to members of the public.

The gesture was designed to humanise the force and reinforce the message that public safety is a collective responsibility.

Residents expressed widespread appreciation for the outreach, noting that such interactions help dismantle barriers between the police and the communities they serve.
