Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Arrest Security Impostors in Plateau State

-

The Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, has neutralized multiple threats and apprehended impostors across Jos North and Wase Local Government Areas.

This surge in operational success comes less than 24 hours after the Chief of Army Staff ordered the strategic deployment of a specialised counter-terrorism battalion to the region.

The breakthrough began late Thursday night in the Dutse Uku area of Jos North. Responding to reports of sporadic gunfire at approximately 11:45 pm, vigilant troops intercepted and arrested two individuals dressed in tactical black uniforms who were masquerading as security operatives.

According to Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer for the task force, the suspects were caught actively setting fire to residential properties and orchestrating violence within the community.

Military officials emphasised that these arrests serve as a direct rebuttal to recent allegations of military complicity in the local unrest. The apprehension of these impostors proves that atrocities previously blamed on official personnel are being executed by criminal elements using deceptive attire to defame the Armed Forces and incite communal discord.

While the suspects remain in custody, two other individuals who sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter are currently in stable condition at a local medical facility.

The military’s momentum continued into Karem, located in the Wase Local Government Area, where troops disrupted a large-scale movement of terrorists travelling by motorcycle. Following a fierce engagement, the insurgents were forced to flee under the pressure of sustained combat. Three terrorists were confirmed neutralised during the encounter.

The Nigerian Army described the recent influx of specialised troops as a “decisive game-changer” that has effectively restored proactive control over previously volatile zones.

In a stern warning issued on Friday, the military stated that all insurgents, hoodlums, and criminal syndicates operating within Plateau State will be “ruthlessly dealt with” as the mission to eliminate threats to public peace continues.

Citizens are urged to remain highly alert and support the ongoing offensive by reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities, as the military remains committed to the permanent restoration of order in the state. #Securitynewsalert.com
