The Delta State number one police officer, Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has conducted an extensive supervisory tour of strategic locations and flashpoints across Asaba, calling for professionalism and respect for members of the public.
The high-profile tour saw the Commissioner visiting critical infrastructure and security junctions, including the Second Niger Bridge, the Asaba Head Bridge, and the Ugbolu–Illah Road intervention point.
During these stops, CP Oyeniyi personally assessed current security deployments and engaged directly with officers on the front lines. While the Commissioner commended the personnel for their ongoing efforts to secure the state, he issued a stern reminder that the command maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct or public complaints.
He specifically mandated that all officers remain properly dressed and maintain a sharp, professional appearance that upholds the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
While addressing personnel at various deployment points, CP Oyeniyi underscored that their primary mission is to monitor, observe, and proactively correct any illegalities within their jurisdictions.
He charged his officers to remain vigilant and professional, emphasising that every interaction with the public must be rooted in courtesy and respect. The Commissioner issued a firm warning against harassment or incivility, stating unequivocally that policing in Delta State must be conducted “with a human face” and in total alignment with international human rights standards.
The tour extended into the heart of the capital, where the CP visited the Asaba Area Command as well as ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ Divisions within the metropolis.
Meeting with Divisional Police Officers and their staff, the Commissioner reiterated the necessity of discipline and integrity. He placed a heavy emphasis on the total eradication of extortion, noting that such corrupt practices severely undermine public trust and will result in immediate and strict disciplinary measures.
In his closing remarks, CP Oyeniyi reassured the residents of Delta State that the command remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property. He further called upon the citizenry to act as partners in progress by providing the police with timely and credible information to help maintain the peace. #Securitynewsalert.com
