Nigerian Army Repels Terrorist Attacks, Launches Precision Strikes, Rescues Civilians

-

The Nigerian Army says troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks across the North East theatre.

According to a statement released on April 22, coordinated assaults at Kanama, Ngoshe, and Banki were “decisively defeated through the vigilant response of troops and effective fire control,” with no casualties reported.

Military officials noted that follow-on precision air interdiction missions were carried out to dismantle terrorist capabilities. One strike at Sowolowolo in the Sambisa Forest destroyed three gun trucks, while another at Kaniram in the Mallam Fatori axis targeted insurgents “observed conducting burial activities,” resulting in the neutralisation of scores of regrouping fighters.

In addition to combat operations, troops of Sector 1 under 26 Brigade conducted search and rescue missions in the Mandara Mountains, freeing 15 women and children abducted by terrorists. The Army reported that in retaliation, JAS elements fired projectiles into Gwoza, but “caused no casualties or damage.”

“These coordinated successes highlight OPHK’s sustained offensive pressure, effective air–land integration, and commitment to protecting civilians while dismantling terrorist capabilities,” said Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North East).

He added that the Military High Command commended the troops for their “gallantry and resilience” and urged them to sustain the operational tempo.
