The Ogun State Police Command has announced a significant breakthrough in a cross-state criminal investigation, with the arrest of two suspects in Ijebu-Ode who are linked to a kidnapping and murder case in Edo State.
The suspects, Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, were apprehended in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode by personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service. Police say preliminary findings connect the pair to a kidnapping and murder incident in the Okada area of Edo State.
Investigators from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on intelligence, identified the suspects following extensive profiling. According to the Command, the two men are alleged members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the Edo State incident.
During the investigation, operatives recovered a police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. All exhibits have been documented and taken into custody.
Because the alleged offences occurred outside Ogun State, the suspects and recovered items will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command, which holds primary jurisdiction over the matter, in line with inter-state policing procedures.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended his operatives for their “professionalism, diligence, and intelligence-gathering capabilities,” adding that the Command remains determined to prevent criminals from using Ogun State as a hideout or transit corridor.
“The Command will continue to deploy intelligence-led strategies, proactive policing measures, and strategic inter-state collaboration to strengthen public safety and security across the state,” Ojajuni said.
