The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has joined Nigerians in commemorating Father’s Day, paying tribute to fathers across the country for their vital contributions to family stability, social cohesion, and national development.
In a statement issued on Sunday on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP acknowledged the sacrifices, dedication, and leadership displayed by fathers in raising responsible citizens and strengthening the moral foundations necessary for a peaceful and prosperous society.
Disu noted that fathers play a crucial role in nurturing responsible children, promoting sound moral values, and instilling virtues such as discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism, which are essential for nation-building. According to him, the daily sacrifices made by fathers in providing guidance, protection, and support to their families continue to strengthen the social fabric of society and contribute significantly to national progress.
The police chief also paid special tribute to serving police officers who balance the demands of law enforcement with their responsibilities as fathers and guardians. He commended officers who often spend long hours away from their families in the service of the nation while remaining committed to their parental duties and serving as role models within their homes and communities.
As Nigerians mark this year’s Father’s Day celebration, Disu wished fathers across the country good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment. He further urged citizens to honour and appreciate the sacrifices, commitment, and enduring influence of fathers whose efforts contribute immensely to building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous nation.
The IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting initiatives that promote family values, social harmony, and national development.
