Centre LSD validates documents furthering gender justice in Nigeria

-

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under its project “Strengthened Citizens Actions for Gender Justice” under the umbrella of the Side-by-Side Movement for Gender Justice with support from Christian Aid, will on 29th November 2022 validate the Document to enable Faith Institutions further Gender Justice in Nigeria.

The Side-by-Side movement recognises that people of faith and religious leaders are responsible for revisiting sacred texts that promote faith values of love, dignity, and gender justice.

Hence the need for the development of a policy document for both Christian and Muslim faith to serve as a guide for addressing gender issues in faith institutions.

A press statement released by the Women Rights Officer of Centre LSD, Ms. Emmanuela Nwahiri, stated that the validation meeting will serve as an opportunity for members of the Side-by-Side movement and faith institutions to make input, validate and adopt the document for use in their various faith institutions. The meeting will also create an opportunity to further enrich and adopt the sermon guide developed for religious leaders

Side by Side is a growing global movement of faith Leaders and Communities, Faith-based organizations and Individuals who are committed to removing barriers to gender justice.  The Nigerian arm of the movement was inaugurated on the 30th of August 2018. Since then, the movement has been established across 5 Geo-Political Zones in Nigeria (Northeast, Northwest, Southwest, Southeast and North Central)

The statement enjoined well-meaning citizens to engage the validation through the various social media channels.
