The Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media alleging that the Minister intends to resign from office.
In a statement signed by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the office described the claims as “malicious” and “entirely fabricated,” insisting that the Minister remains committed to his responsibilities.
According to the statement, the rumours alleging that the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, plans to step down are “absolute falsehood borne out of complete mischief.”
The ministry stated that the Minister remains fully focused on his national security mandate and is dedicated to implementing the country’s defence strategy.
It added that the public should disregard the reports, stressing that there is no truth to the claims circulating online.
The Minister’s office also urged media organisations and social media users to refrain from spreading unverified information and to seek clarification from the appropriate authorities before publishing or sharing such reports. #Securitynewsalert.com
