INEC Says 1.9m PVCs Collected Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

-

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

According to a statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, and reported by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the figure represents 81.5 per cent of the state’s 2,339,233 registered voters.

The Commission said the remaining 426,842 uncollected PVCs, representing 18.5 per cent, have been securely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with its established procedures.

INEC also disclosed that 6,101 voters whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost successfully applied for replacements and printed downloadable copies of their voter cards.

The Commission added that the polling unit-by-polling unit breakdown of PVC collection has been published on its website.

Haruna reaffirmed INEC’s readiness for the poll, saying, “The Commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, the media and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.”
