The Northern Senators Forum has condemned last Friday’s terrorist attack in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, where gunmen reportedly abducted hundreds of worshippers at Kpenya Mosque after Jumat prayers.
In a statement, the Chairman of the forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, described the attack, which also affected Gidan Zana and Kpenya communities, as “barbaric.”
Yar’Adua called on the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted worshippers and secure their safe release.
“The Forum calls on the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police and DSS to intensify rescue operations for the safe release of all abductees,” he said.
The Northern Senators Forum also urged the Federal Government to provide urgent relief to affected communities and strengthen security in Borgu and other border communities.
The forum expressed concern over the security situation in the area, stressing the need for coordinated efforts to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
