Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnapped victims following intensified operations across Local Government Areas of Plateau State, according to the Joint Task Force.
The military said the operations, aimed at denying terrorist elements freedom of movement across the state, have recorded significant successes, a development corroborated by eyewitnesses and community leaders.
In the first incident, troops of Sector 3 deployed in Bassa Local Government Area acted on credible intelligence regarding the kidnap of one Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo. The troops launched a search and rescue operation at about 9:00 am on Tuesday, 25 August 2025, which led to the victim’s successful rescue.
In a similar operation, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in the early hours of Wednesday, 26 August 2026. The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists, who abandoned a kidnap victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, during the chase. He was rescued immediately.
Both victims have since been debriefed and reunited with their families, the military said.
The Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended troops for their professionalism and decisive posture in disrupting criminal activities and restoring security within the Joint Operations Area. He appealed to residents for calm, caution, and continued support to enable troops to achieve their mandate of restoring lasting peace in the region.
