The Ogun State Police Command says it recorded a string of arrests and recoveries between 16 and 26 September, including 11 suspects taken into custody, two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms, 25 ATM cards and eight vehicles impounded for blocking traffic.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi said the operations reflected “effective policing, targeted operations and proactive enforcement” under Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni.
The first case began on 16 September, when detectives at Owode Egba Division received a complaint about a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle. Acting on a tip, officers traced and recovered the vehicle the next day at Mokoloki Village. Two men, identified as Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested in connection with the theft. A third suspect, identified only as Saheed, is still at large, and police say the search for him continues.
Three days later, operatives from Olorunda Division stopped three men riding a motorcycle along Ayetoro Road and found them carrying what police described as stolen electrical materials — bundles of wiring, a change-over box and a circuit breaker box allegedly taken from a nearby home. Two of the three, identified as Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, were arrested. A third suspect, named as Tosin, fled the scene and remains at large.
On 21 September, SWAT operatives based at Abule-Iroko intercepted an unregistered tricycle and an unregistered motorcycle near Dalemo, Ota. Three men — Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30 — were arrested. Police say early findings link the men to a pattern of vehicle theft in the Ijoko area, and that investigators are working to identify others who may be involved.
A day later, Igbesa Division arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over an alleged fraud scheme valued at ₦2.5 million. Officers recovered 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones from him. According to police, the alleged scheme involved using utility bills and newly registered SIM cards, funnelled through associates, to open bank accounts — after which the linked ATM cards were allegedly collected and used for fraudulent withdrawals. The suspect and the recovered items have since been handed to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further investigation.
Also on 22 September, SWAT operatives moved on a tip about a suspected cult gathering, arresting Peter Olanrewaju, 34. That arrest led investigators to a second suspect, Adebayo Sodiq, 36, and to the recovery of a pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols. Police say they are still working to determine the circumstances behind the weapons’ possession and whether others were involved.
Detectives with the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office recovered a Safira car reported stolen from its owner, arresting a suspect identified as Olatunji Olalekan after what police described as discreet surveillance and tracking. The vehicle is being held as evidence while the investigation continues.
On 26 September, officers from the Sagamu Area Command carried out a “no parking” enforcement operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge, impounding eight vehicles found obstructing the highway. Police say the vehicles are scheduled to be processed for prosecution on 28 September, and that similar enforcement will continue.
In closing remarks, Commissioner Ojajuni commended officers for their vigilance and thanked residents for their cooperation, reiterating the command’s commitment to proactive policing.
