The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Samuel E. Erale, has commended the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) for its contributions to the welfare of police families and its support for officers in the discharge of their duties.
Erale gave the commendation when he received the Chairperson of POWA, Delta State Chapter, Mrs Samuel Etaifo Iyabo, and members of the association during a courtesy visit to the state police command headquarters in Asaba.
The commissioner acknowledged the sacrifices and challenges faced by police officers’ wives, noting that their patience, understanding and encouragement were essential to boosting officers’ morale and commitment to duty.
He observed that the demanding nature of police work often places considerable pressure on officers’ families, stressing that a stable and supportive home environment could strengthen officers’ effectiveness in maintaining law and order.
Erale urged members of the association to remain steadfast in supporting their husbands, emphasising that patience, perseverance and mutual understanding were necessary for sustaining strong police families.
Earlier, Iyabo expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
She also commended the National POWA Chairperson, Mrs Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, for her visionary and inspiring leadership.
The Delta POWA chairperson reaffirmed the association’s commitment to improving the welfare of police families, empowering women, promoting children’s wellbeing and contributing to community development.
She said the association remained dedicated to initiatives that would improve the quality of life of police families while supporting broader community development efforts.
The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between police leadership and POWA in promoting family welfare, strengthening officers’ morale and supporting the effective performance of police duties.
