The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate operations targeting cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping, recovering a locally made cut-to-size firearm, four live cartridges and one expended cartridge.
On October 10, at about 4:45 p.m., operatives of the Command’s Quick Response Squad (QRS), acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested a 37-year-old man, Adogbeji Johnson, alias “Highman,” in Abraka.
Police said Johnson is believed to be a member of the Black Axe Confraternity, also known as Aiye, and is being investigated for suspected involvement in cultism and armed robbery. A search of his Toyota Sienna vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size firearm, two live cartridges and a cutlass.
In a separate operation the same day, at about 3:30 p.m., operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubuluku, working with officers of the Ogwashi-Uku Division, the Civilian Anti-Cult Unit, Ubuluku, and local vigilantes, carried out a joint raid at Ubulunor.
The raid resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Musa Mohammed, who is suspected of involvement in kidnapping. Two live cartridges and one expended cartridge were recovered from the scene.
Both suspects remain in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, reiterated the command’s resolve to tackle violent crime through intelligence-led policing. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide credible information to support ongoing security operations.
