The Nigeria Police Force said sacks of ‘money’ found in a warehouse in Wadata Police Barracks, Markudi, Benue State, were not actually money, but papers meant for the production of mosquito coils.

Police situation report sighted by securitynewsalert.com, states thus: “Today is the 13th of December 2022, at about 12am, information was received that there were some bags of Nigerian Currency hidden in one of the stores at Wadata Barracks. The police team quickly rushed to the scene and discovered that what they called money is waste papers from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Makurdi branch. Verifications were made by CBN and confirmed to be waste papers sold by CBN Markudi, to Mr Promise and safely kept by Isah Suleiman in his store at the barracks, which is used for the production of mosquito coils. Meanwhile, the goods have been evacuated from the barracks.”
