Officers of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have carried out an enforcement operation at Oke-Arin Market in Lagos State, recovering prohibited alcoholic beverages and suspected counterfeit goods.
The agency’s Investigation and Enforcement officers discovered sachet and PET-bottled alcoholic drinks below 200ml, a category prohibited under existing regulations, hidden in several shops within the market.
During the operation, the team also uncovered unregistered and suspected fake food products, as well as alcoholic drinks. All the identified items were evacuated from the market.
NAFDAC disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, @NafdacAgency.
The agency has in recent times intensified its crackdown on substandard, unregistered and falsified products in markets across the country, as part of efforts to protect public health.
